Traveling with Kids: Child Safety Seats in a Black Car/SUV are a Must

When traveling with young children, child safety car seats are a must.  US airlines require child safety seats on flights for passengers traveling with a child under 2, if that child has been purchased a seat on the aircraft.  But what about when you arrive at your destination?    If you are traveling to the nation’s capital, Washington DC by air, you will arrive at either Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).  Both of these airports are in the state of Virginia.

Virginia law requires that children under 8 be secured in child safety car seats under the Child Restraint law.  Children 4-7 must be in car booster seats if they no longer fit into a child safety seat with a harness.  Violations of the Child Restraint law are a primary offense, meaning that a driver can be cited for a violation without first committing another violation.

Most car services do not offer car child safety seats, and if they do, they can charge as much as $20 extra PER SEAT!

We are “family-friendly” at Dulles Coach Services and child safety is important to us, so we provide child car safety seats and booster seats for children over 12 months old for our clients FREE OF CHARGE.  The car seat(s) or booster(s) must be ordered in advance at the time of the reservation.  Children between 12 months and 4 years of age are provided an appropriate child safety seat based on their ages.

Dulles Coach Services uses Evenflo Tribute LX and Immi Go child safety seats and Graco Child Booster Seats depending on the ages of the traveling children.  The Evenflo and the Immi seats are installed using the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system.
